DANCING WITH PHOTOGRAPHS
Sharan Devkar Shankar
My larger body of work aims to look at people, their relationships with their built environments, and the intimacy with which they go about their daily lives. I also look at myself, because being around contemporary dance has influenced my practice as a visual artist, particularly the ways in which I view the body and movement. This series looks at how I have been able to observe the moving body, in its everyday performativity and in choreographed works. I do this to find connections between the two spaces, and to find for myself a way to move and dance with photographs.
Single-channel video installation, 30 seconds (looped)
There are two viewing possibilities for this body of work. You can choose to look at the images at a speed that I define for you, or choose to look at them in a defined order, but in your own time.
